Greetings! I pray your Thursday has gone well so far. It’s been a little busy for me today with two Zooms, budget work, cleaning, and online work. I did get my calendar together for the rest of July and the beginning of August.
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: LUKE 12:25-26 – “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”
Worry takes your eyes off of God. As the Scripture reminds us, we can’t add a single hour to our lives. One point that comes to me is that worry stems from the unknown and our tendency to create the worst-case scenarios in our minds.
I have so much peace when I put results in God’s hands, trust that He has my best interests at heart, and that He is a keeper of His promises. He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider. He promises to take care of our needs. And He knows what you need.
When I feel myself becoming anxious, I go to Scripture. The Bible tells us not to be anxious about anything. Philippians 4:6 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” If you have had any anxiety, have you noticed that the more you worry about the outcome or results, the more the anxiety increases?
What I find interesting is thinking to myself, “What can I do about it?” If nothing, why am I worried? Bad habits become so ingrained that we sometimes think we need a major overhaul to change things. However, an adjustment in perspective is really all that is needed. The key is to practice the application of reframing so it becomes second nature.
God bless you, and be encouraged.
