Greetings! I pray you are doing well today. Today has been a quiet and focused day for me. I got most of my computer work done. I signed up for another counseling class, as if I don’t have enough to do. I recently found out that someone I know is recovering from triple bypass surgeries and a stroke. It is imperative that we care for ourselves. We all will age. How do you want to age is the question. And yet, we have a decision to make on where we stand with God. We don’t know the exact date we make our exit. I did hear that things are getting better for this person. With that, I do want to share Today’s Scripture with you.
Today’s Scripture: Luke 24:46-49 – “He told them, ‘This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” (NIV)
God has given us everything we need to live a better life here on earth. What Jesus accomplished on the cross is huge. Jesus died for each of us, offering redemption and reconciliation with God. But He didn’t offer just that. He gave us help. John 14:16 – “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—“ (The NIV) and Acts 1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
As He leaves, Jesus sends us another advocate to replace Him. We have the help that we need to navigate this journey. I will say, though, that we must make some changes. Jesus made sure to send us help and power from God the Father. Acts 5:32 – “We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
The additional Scriptures are: Matthew 16:21; Acts 10:43; Mark 13:10; and 1 Peter 5:1. God bless you, and be encouraged.
