Maturity is Gained by Consistent Application_06/25/26

Greetings! It’s nearing the weekend. I hope that you have something fun planned with family and friends. It’s 106° at 4:35 pm. It is hot, and we still have a red flag warning. Staying cool and hydrated today. It is supposed to be cooler for the next week and a half, in the 90s, double digits instead of triple digits.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 5:13-14

What does mature mean? According to Webster’s New 20th Century Dictionary, it means to bring to full growth or development. This Scripture passage should be compelling for believers. Constant use is consistent application. We must apply God’s word to our lives and choices. Our decisions should line up with God’s word in such a way that growth is inevitable. We must decrease so that He will increase. Additional Scriptures to review are 1 Corinthians 14:20; 1 Corinthians 2:6, and Isaiah 7:15. Consistent use implies that God’s word is our standard. It is not applied once in a while; it is applied regularly. Our measuring stick becomes our gauge, so that as we continually apply the word, it becomes a part of who we are. It’s not the easiest thing to do, but it is simple. We stop relying on our own perspectives and start relying on God’s word. We become mature because we grow. We consistently renew our minds to God’s word. After some time, the new mindset becomes second nature. It’s like learning to walk when we were young. We kept falling until we didn’t anymore. We were shaky still, even though we didn’t fall. Then we began to walk with confidence.

That confidence becomes stronger. It becomes a part of who we are because God’s word does not change. It’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus says that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He promised to be with us and to never leave us. The Holy Spirit is Him keeping that promise.

Though life brings challenges, His love, grace, and mercy don’t leave us. Our righteousness is in Him. We can grow and mature in the faith. However, it’s not by osmosis, but practical application. God bless you, and be encouraged.
