What’s Your Premise for Boasting?

Greetings! Today is the middle of the week, and I pray that your mid-week status is fine. It’s been a good day so far. It’s 96° at 5:03 pm. The high today was 98°. However, tomorrow the high will be 105°. I don’t have any place to be today, so I’m inside. Writing, reading, and posting are on my radar today.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: JEREMIAH 9:23-24

A quote from the Bible, Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NIV), displayed against a sky background, emphasizing themes of wisdom, strength, and understanding of the Lord.

God’s word guides us on what to deem important in our lives. Our values should reflect this. Jeremiah’s commitment to God’s word is evident. He took his relationship with God very seriously. Psalm 62:10 – “Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.” Galatians 6:14 – “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

Yes, I am continuing to give God the glory for my life. My boasting is in Him. My accomplishments at this point in my life are because of God’s grace and mercy. Sure, I did the hands-on work, which is within my capacity. And, to be transparent, at times I needed grace and mercy for even that. As we travel this journey called life, the challenges rear their ugly heads. However, every challenge is not meant to destroy us, but to make us stronger. Every challenge becomes an opportunity to rise and keep going. When we arrive at that stable place, God gets the glory. He is the one who gives the breath, strength, and courage to keep going.

How do we give glory to God? Give thanks first. Thanking God is fundamental to increasing your faith. It means we recognize the blessings we have received. One of my favorite Scriptures is 1 Timothy 6:6 – “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” Money helps with some challenges, but it is not a cure-all. Money cannot erase the grief that comes with the loss of a loved one. Money cannot erase the pain of betrayal. Jeremiah does mention that we should not boast in our riches, our strength, or even our wisdom. All are gifts from God. He deserves the glory. In all our boasting, let us boast in the Lord. God bless you, and be encouraged.
