Greetings! It’s the middle of the week. For those who work, this is great, “I’m getting through the week.” Retirement puts a different spin on this perspective. This is a part of retirement I do enjoy. Okay, full disclosure, I like everything about retirement right now. I can serve God without watching the clock, and I don’t have to be out in the heat every single day. It’s 102° at 2:51 pm. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Following righteousness should be a desire of the believer. God changes you as you grow in grace. God says He loves those who follow righteousness. Job 35:13 – “Surely God will not listen to empty talk, nor will the Almighty regard it.” Proverbs 21:19 – “A wicked man hardens his face, but as for the upright, he establishes his way. John 9:31 – “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.” Additional Scripture: Isaiah 1:17; Psalm 51:17.
According to the Scriptures, our righteousness is in Christ Jesus. To me, when I read this Scripture, it is about pursuing holiness because of His righteousness. 1 Timothy 6:10-11 – “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.” I believe it also points to the posture of your heart. After accepting the gift of salvation, which is free, and receiving the Holy Spirit, God’s word says we are new creatures in Christ. Should there not be a desire to pursue the things of God?
We are on a journey. It is truly a process. However, participation is required of us. Daily, we make choices to choose the things of God, the things of this world, or the things of the flesh. It is not easy. But it’s not impossible. I believe when we are uncomfortable with a necessary change, we lean toward comfort. However, there is hope in Christ. God bless you, and be encouraged.

I enjoyed reading this. Comfortability can and will get you in trouble in this Walk in Christ. You do not want to be too comfortable to where you cannot hear God’s voice. As a young believer, I had to distinguish between Contentment and Comfortability. Contentment is being satisfied with where God has you for the moment. Comfortability can prevent you from growth. It is good to be uncomfortable for Christ.
