This site is important because I share information on aging and the challenges that come with it. This is relevant because we are all dealing with some aspect of aging. The focus is on the senior community.
Hi, I’m Sandra Vercellono. Here’s some background. I share information that edifies, encourages, and helps you change positively and permanently. I started writing years ago. Stemmed from my love of reading, I desired to encourage others in my writing. I got my associate degree and bachelor’s degree later in life from Stanford Brown University (at 52 years old). After divorce and another period of being a single parent, I decided to go back to school. On a mission to learn how to navigate each challenging period of life, I keep educating myself. I believe in life-long learning because change is a life-long process. I am certified in addiction and recovery, CBT from Udemy, along with becoming a certified life coach with the International Christian Coaching Institute.
During the educational journey, medical challenges presented themselves regularly. I endured a full hysterectomy in 2003. Diagnosed with Type II diabetes when my youngest child was only three years old. I couldn’t stand to light three candles. Learning to navigate the medications, eating, and exercise was difficult. Exercise did lower my blood sugar levels, but sometimes too low. Each doctor has their perspective on Type II diabetes. Research and application by me was necessary to travel this journey. I had to learn my own body. Having a stroke in 2023 caused more challenges. I had to recover the ability to use my left foot and leg. Then I had to have major surgery (right artery) right before starting my master’s journey. I haven’t experienced every medical challenge with aging or I’d be dead. However, sharing my education and experience may help someone else.
Checking in with me will help you with what you are challenged with. I will provide information to help make decision-making less stressful; to make changing an adventure; and, to encourage moving forward making this an exciting time in your life even with challenges.
