TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17
Hello. I pray you are doing well today. I have been up since 5 am. No worries, though. It was a quiet morning. I went on the patio, and it was a little cool this morning. This weather here in Vegas is so unpredictable. However, I was reminded that the first day of summer is June 21st. Because we got such warm weather early on, I’m thinking, “What happened?” At any rate, I am excited about this Scripture because it does remind me whose I am.
Romans 6:4 – “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Isaiah 65:17 – “See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.”
Your spirit is new. Your spiritual perspective goes from practice to position. Belonging to Christ, being in Him, physical or natural progression from the old life—old habits, evil thoughts, and lust—begins to diminish control in your life. However, remember the key of this verse is to be in Him—in God’s word, in prayer and fasting, applying what the word says to your life. Some may disagree; however, I believe that there is an innate need for us to see things from a biblical perspective, God’s perspective.
When we walk in Christ, the Holy Spirit brings us truth and clarity. And yet, He only gives us what the Father says. We were created for good works. However, before Christ died and rose again, our works were based on our sin nature. Christ became the ultimate sacrifice so that no man could boast in his own works. God does give each person free will to choose Him; the power of our own will does not generate new birth. The new birth rests with God, and Him alone. Galatians 6:15 – “Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.“ These Scriptures encourage me with hope and expectancy. I hope they also encourage you to look forward to eternal things. The things on this earth that will fade away, the temporal things.
