Greetings! I pray that you are having a great Wednesday. Today’s Scripture is sobering. It requires repentance. Many of us want to do everything our way, even when it comes to our relationship with God. The desire to have our own standards and only be accountable to ourselves is a dangerous place. God, in His infinite wisdom, is well aware that we can self-destruct. Study of God’s word reveals that He considered everyone’s well-being. It was not just about one person.
What’s interesting about this topic for me today is having a conversation with my youngest daughter and understanding that a person’s motives matter. God’s word compels us to consider the consequences of our actions. It reveals the real self and why repentance is needed. What is most enlightening is forgiveness. God’s forgiveness of our sins through the death and resurrrection of Jesus Christ is so important. When accepting God’s forgiveness of us, we are able to understand why there is a need to forgive others. God is the god of reconciliation. His love and mercy for us is shown in that He gave His one and only Son to die for us. Then raised Him from the dead for everyone to have the opportunity to choose reconciliation with Him.
We were not created to exist alone. There is a desire, I believe inherent, that draws us to relationship with others. There would be no crisis in being alone, or detriment from loneliness if this were not so. At least, that’s my take on it. God’s hand on our lives reveals this truth. Because repentance leads us to reconcilation with God, can we not see how important reconciliation is in our earthly relationships?
Be encouraged and God bless you.
