  1. Partners for a Healthy Nevada

As many of you know, September is Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. It’s an opportunity to raise awareness about obesity and the impacts on children and families as well as promote healthy behaviors and help connect people to resources for support.

We’ve created a 5-2-1-0 Healthy Habits Every Day Communications Toolkit in English and Spanish. Included in the toolkit is a link to social media graphics that can be modified for your purposes. The Nevada Institute for Children’s Research and Policy, has also created a comprehensive Childhood Obesity Awareness Month Toolkit.

As a reminder, you can always request free 5210 materials including posters, flyers, activity books, stickers, magnets, and other items from our 5210 Shop Page. You can learn more about the 5210 initiative on our website in English and Spanish. You can also check our community calendars in English and Spanish for events during September that will be promoting and distributing 5210 materials and other resources. Atrial fibrillation, also called AFib, is the most common type of irregular heartbeat and can increase stroke risk by up to 5x. New consumer patient research from the American Heart Association finds that most people with AFib (62%) were unaware of the condition before they were diagnosed. Early identification and treatment of AFib are critical to stroke prevention, so it’s important to learn the signs and what may put you at risk.
