Be Consistent for Change

GOD grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change; COURAGE to change the things I can; and WISDOM to know the difference. Serenity Prayer (14th Century)

Every time you choose to make the choice to keep at something, you strengthen your foundation for change. Today, I share my thoughts on being consistent. Synonyms of consistent include: being faithful, committed, diligent, dependable, steady, and steadfast. You keep moving toward the prize.

Being consistent isn’t the same for every thing. Some things will be done once a week, some things every day, some things even once a month. The objective is to work on being consistent with whatever it is. You may not feel like working on certain things. The difficulty of something or being uncomfortable can cause procrastination. It did for me. However, since recognizing this about myself, I can now do the hard things anyway, despite how I feel.

I share this because our emotions get in the mix whether we want them to or not. I remember a situation with my granddaughter. She was told to clean her room. It was overrun with a huge number of those plastic balls. (I did ask mom whose bright idea it was to buy the kids over 100 balls at once for their rooms. She said it was a joint effort.) Anyway, my granddaughter looked around the room and it was overwhelming. She began to cry. I did offer to help her because I could see her frustration. She would not be able to get all the balls picked up anytime soon.

Perspective can take us in a negative direction at times. Her perspective of all those ball brought tears. Ask for help. Sometimes someone will be around to offer help. Most times we have to go to God for help. There is help available when you want to make a change and need consistency. He strengthens, comforts, and gives us courage to keep going.

We experience that on our journey. Sometimes it seems overwhelming to bring change. However, one ball at a time. We just have to keep at it. Being consistent is foundational to becoming excellent in any endeavor, and ultimately reaching your goals. Be blessed and encouraged.
