Today’s Thoughts of Nostalgic Reflection

Shalom. I pray that you all have had a blessed Sunday. I pray that you enjoyed time with your family, an awesome Sunday dinner, and gave thanks for God’s blessings.

I rocked side to side as I let the worship music minister to my soul. The memory of a great leather purse I bought from Sears (storefront) with money from my first real job. You know the distant pleasure of the nine-to-five. You may be wondering where is she going with this. It was an investment. It was quality leather. It was strong. It was a simple large purse that provided the space and the strength I needed. That was back when I wanted to carry everything I owned everywhere I went.

It reminded me of my relationship with God. I depended on that purse for years. That is, until my mom asked to borrow it, and it was bye-bye. The thought of investing in something you can depend on is very reassuring. Who would imagine that forty-plus years later, that purse would come to mind? During worship nonetheless. It does bring a fond memory of my mother, as I was able to share something of value.

My relationship with God. It is a treasure of great value that I can share with others. Reflection on the days gone by brings unexpected depth to some of the experiences had. I didn’t expect nostalgia from a purchase I made years ago. Perception is key to many of the painful experiences had as well. This writing journey has helped me adjust my perspective.

Today’s thoughts remind me to be present, in the moment, and to appreciate the ones I love. My mom passed in 2014. Some of those memories are very pleasant. This was one of them.

Be blessed and encouraged.

  1. Stacey – Welcome! I'm a writer currently based in Virginia. I love God, my family and my garden. I would love to hear your responses to the questions I pose, so please share! I can't wait to hear from you!

Thank you for sharing your relationship with your blog readers, SanVercell! It is, as you say, a treasure.

I also totally understand your love of real leather! I actually exclusively by real leather purses from a company called Portland leather because I know that every time I buy one it will last forever. They’re so reasonably priced for real leather also!
