Today’s Thoughts: Gratitude and Contentment

“For the Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 33:4 NLT

Keeping the families in Texas in my prayers, I am profoundly grateful for today’s breath. If you have read any of my other posts, you can see I am big on gratitude. I encourage you today to make gratitude a critical go-to. Much of what society deals with today is ingratitude. Satisfaction or contentment doesn’t mean much today. Dictionary synonyms include tranquility, peace, and joy. I pulled these definitions from the Reader’s Digest Oxford Complete Wordfinder. It is a combination of the dictionary and thesaurus meanings.

Defining has become important as I continue to write. I digress, though. My point is to make sure you have an understanding of where I am going. The current cultural climate is about bigger, better, and more, more, more. Nothing seems to satisfy for longer than thirty seconds. As soon as you finish an amazing project, you have to start focusing on the next one. Time is not taken to enjoy the work or the growth. I have to ask what “new and improved” means to you. When something works, it works. I am all for change and improvement. However, does everything have to change? Does everything need fixing? I believe if we slow down and began to appreciate the progress we have made, life would be more enjoyable for most. Some may not be satisfied no matter what happens.

I encourage you today to place contentment and gratitude on your change list. Being grateful for your blessings and satisfaction with your progress moves you into a different living level.

Be blessed and encouraged.
