Self-discipline: planned control and training of oneself for the sake of development

I hope you have had a wonderful day. Today, I want to discuss self-discipline and its relationship to change. When considering how the best become the best at what they do, it is essential to understand that it requires self-discipline and consistent practice.

Are you a person who desires change? Are you committed to change? Self-discipline is the way to commit to change. You must be ready to do what needs to be done regardless of how you feel. I believe in self-care when it is necessary. However, emotional priority is becoming destructive. This is said with due respect to self-awareness and the understanding of what a person may be dealing with.

Self-discipline says you have a plan to work towards what you want to accomplish. Change requires you to have a good idea of what you want and a plan of action to take. The process includes a breakdown of what this change requires and the steps needed. The self-discipline process, the plan, is making sure those steps are completed on a regular basis until they are second nature. What does that mean?

It means that you replace those useless habits with productive ones. That requires self-discipline. One step at a time, if necessary. When you break down the steps, it is easier to pinpoint a step you can practice every day to work toward your goal. My first question as a coach would be to ask: What do you want to change? The second questions would be: How can you accomplish this change? The second question requires a client to look at their life and determine what is important and what can be done away with. An individual may get help from a coach. However, the individual is responsible for the change, for the steps, and for the daily habits that need to be put in place.

Be encouraged and be blessed.
