Today I attended the Senior Wellness Festival at the YMCA sponsored by Nevada Hand. This event is held every year and includes various other participants. It is a wonderful opportunity to gather information to assist you in making those aging decisions. Many booths were represented to share information about resources available to you.
I will be interviewing the Sheyla Pierre, Director of Equity Development & Community Engagement at Roseman University about an upcoming project (2025) they are implementing to support community involvement and connection. I will update accordingly.
It’s also an opportunity to get information about new events. Events are being held to help research and provide answers for existing medical issues with aging. Links to various organizations will also be added to the dropdown menu under Helpful Websites.
Social services and other state agencies were available to assist those with questions.
Participating seniors in the photo below volunteered for the activity portion of the wellness event promoting simple group exercising such as dancing.
I will make additional posts on some of the other organizations represented today. Check out some of the links provided and get the information you need. The Southern Nevada Health District will be providing free classes on managing your diabetes on September 10th and September 17th. Helping Hands of Vegas Valley offers transportation services. I included these specific links directly below for your convenience. UNLV Department of Brain Health provides information on how to be a part of their research projects. Choice Hospice works with blended families who struggle with additional care for their loved ones.
