The senior community has the most challenges with aging. Homelessness among seniors is another looming challenge faced when income is not sufficient, there’s no opportunity present to live with family, and there’s no recourse when property management changes come. The concept of “shelters for seniors only” is a thought. There are senior apartment complexes and communities. Boarded-up properties can be turned into shelters and very low-income housing. The focus is on the shelters for immediate relief and safety. There are resources here in Nevada to help seniors. Links are listed below for anyone reading this who may be in need or know someone in need.
Several properties have been boarded up for a while here in Las Vegas. Homelessness can be reduced by taking advantage of these properties. Properties that have been collecting dust for several years. Not a cure-all but be a step in the right direction. This is a way to allow the homeless reprieve to get the help they need.
Some seniors live alone and when a crisis rears its ugly head, they have no one to provide information and may be afraid to seek help. Elderheplv.org addresses this issue. The phone number is included to Elder Help for those without a computer –
