Inevitable…such a strong word.

The dictionary defines inevitable as unavoidable, sure to happen. The synonyms include inescapable, irrevocable, destined as well as fated or decreed. This is a very strong word and when I think of inevitable, I think change and death. Not in a morbid way for this post but in a way that gives understanding that these are the only things totally equal for everyone. While I don’t assume to say that everyone will die the same or live the same length of time, it is inevitable that everyone does have a limited time to inhabit the physical space on this earth and will change daily by how the Lord created us. I would say taxes are inevitable as well but some (geniuses?) may have actually gotten away with not paying taxes. It is appointed unto man once to die and then judgment. We go see our maker. Hebrews 9:27-28 (KJV):

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

At this point, what now becomes inevitable is how we choose to live this life, consciously or not. Young or old, there are no guarantees. Since the beginning of the year, my focus has been living in the now. Someone close to me is in a critical situation, hemorrhaging. She has one young child already but she is quite young and wants to have more. There are no guarantees. The question becomes, does she live in the now and appreciate the blessing of the one child she already has or does she maybe go on meds to control the bleeding and hope that she can actually have another child in the future? She has given it to God. At this point, it is in God’s hands. But the inevitable is that she has a child to love and impact and that child will change according to her environment as well as the physical changes destined.

 

I just read the post of a fellow blogger The Seeds for Life and the topic is about how the body heals. When we release the worry and anxiety, still the mind and let the body speak to us, the body does its healing process. The point here is that as we deal with life events, it is important to enjoy the process of living. Change is inevitable: good, bad or indifferent. But how we live with change is a definitive part of our inner character.

 

We may not like the negative, but we should respect the process for what it brings in wisdom, understanding and direction for our lives. The Word of God says to “count it all joy.” The word inevitable should remind us that we are given this physical time here on earth to allow God to use us and make a difference. Everyone is a world-changer to the degree that you change the immediate world around you.
