I pray everyone is having a great Monday so far! I was motivated to share my thoughts today considering what is going on. As you know, some days are better than others. I have been distraught by the news lately, as I am sure you have been as well.
The news of Charlie Kirk’s death is another announcement of man’s depravity. The value of life is depleting like water from a leaking bucket. The talk of free speech mocks us when we kill someone just because we disagree with what they have to say. Didn’t they kill Jesus for that very reason? They didn’t like that He compared Himself to God.
I write my thoughts about what’s currently going on and about other reactions. Some have taken things seriously enough to revisit their relationship with God and return to church. Unfortunately, Charlie K. had to die for someone to reconsider how much they need the Lord. Bad things and good things are happening.
It is becoming even more critical that consideration is given to where our souls are headed. My eyes are on the prize of eternal salvation. Are we going to continue to let someone else direct our beliefs and behaviors? I have heard a lot of rhetoric over the last few days that believers need to speak out about such things. Believers need to speak out against these negative behaviors. What is it that believers can do differently other than pray for people and cry out to God to protect and lead His people?
Each individual is given free will. When a person chooses to use their free will for evil, taking away someone else’s choice, what can be done other than prosecuting them to the full extent of the law? Prayers must be lifted to God for the heart of man to be directed to honor God in all that is said and done. We must revisit the value that is given to life, period.
Taking justice into our own hands is not the answer. We have to deal with the emotional fallout when answers are not quick enough. Vengeance still belongs to God, however long He takes. It’s hard to accept this. We want justice NOW! The emotional response that comes forth. However, God has given us a manual from which to work.
That said, I reiterate that God has given us a manual to work from. The Bible does have steps on how to maintain our integrity when dealing with the hard things, having those hard conversations. How many lives need to be lost before we surrender to God? Be blessed and encouraged.
