I have to admit that I am currently baffled by what is going on with the US and Iran. I have to admit that I do not understand why we bombed Iran in the first place. I have to admit that I don’t understand God allowing Trump’s rampage on whatever he wants; he acts with no consideration of the effect on others. I have to admit that I do have concerns. When it seems I am getting anxious, my prayer is simple. “I trust you, God.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

My understanding is hereby lacking. I know that, as a country, we need to do certain things to protect the rights and freedoms we enjoy. However, I currently feel like we have a tapeworm. The parasites that destroy your gastrointestinal tract. The more room they take, the more destructive they become. This may not be the best analogy. It is what came to mind as I was writing because sometimes we are unaware of what is causing our misery. Sometimes we are unaware of the extent of destruction.

I hardly write about political matters as I have disclosed my lack of knowledge in this area. However, I ask God for understanding. If He chooses not to provide that understanding, I pray for the comfort of knowing that no matter what happens, I am in His hands. The political climate is very volatile right now. The next explosion is on the horizon. Believers must stay in prayer for wisdom even when we don’t understand completely what’s going on behind the scenes.

I will not pretend to state anyone’s heart posture. My prayer is that God help us all, even our enemies–real and imagined. Our prayers for wisdom for our leadership are more important than ever. We are to pray for those in authority. Pray that God would open their ears, eyes, and hearts for His divine will and purpose. Praying is an instant reminder of who’s in charge.

I have to admit that times are currently fragile and disconcerting. I do believe that God is still in control and sovereign. What He allows is for His divine plan and purpose. While this post does reflect my questions, I hope it encourages others anyway, because God is still in charge. I have to stand on what I believe.
