Is Procrastination Winning in Your Life?

Hello. I pray that you are having a great Wednesday. Can you believe that the first four months of 2025 are coming to a close? Time is moving so fast. You blink, and a week has come and gone.

Today, I would like to encourage you to move towards the things that you want to accomplish. While reading other posts today, I came across a quote I would like to add here. I got this quote from Mitch Teemley’s post on procrastination. I linked here to his post.

“God has promised forgiveness to your repentance, but He has not promised tomorrow to your procrastination.” ~St. Augustine of Hippo.

I like St. Augustine’s quotes. This quote resonated with me because of how fast time is moving. I am not saying don’t enjoy what you are doing or the process. I am saying just get to doing what you need to. Slowing down is not a complete stop and standing still is not movement. Of course, I could be speaking from the aging process. As we age, time does seem to move faster. Is it my imagination or is there someone out there who can relate?

Being engaged in your life is part of the change process. Your mindset on time is significant here. Procrastination allows you to think you have all the time in the world. The flip side is believing that you don’t have enough time. The balance between the two is the objective.

I look for the value in the things I do now. Time is a commodity that you cannot get back. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. We take for granted the value of time. I am not a person who dwells on regret. There are some things I regret, but not much. I lean towards gratitude because I am still here to change things. What I do wish I had learned and valued more in my younger years is the value of time.

Do you value time? How important is your time? By the way, understanding the value of time is part of maximizing your time management. Time is the one commodity that is equally distributed. Every individual has twenty-four hours, no matter how much or how little money they have. I will grant you that money helps you maximize time better to some degree when valued.

Well said. Hereabouts my greatest complaint is how much we don’t value time. People not only waste their time but also other people’s time. You make and appointment and nobody shows up on time or sometimes don’t show up at all, and without remorse. Here it’s common to hear latecomers and procrastinaters talk of African time as though we have more than the allotted twenty four hours.
I’m nearly sixty and I very much feel like I am out time, contrary to what you have said. I pity the young who don’t heed the advice I give them on the value of time especially in the youthful years. I can’t turn back time but I strive to get the best of what I have now.
    Be blessed.
