Hello there. Happy Monday. It has been a reflective day as I read the posts penned by other writers. There is so much great content as we share our journeys.
I will say that I am enjoying the writings of others more in retirement. I actually take the time and enjoy the reading. I think about what I read and how it pertains to me. If there is an application, I envision how. It is said that what makes a good writer is being an avid reader. This factor helped me tremendously when I returned to higher education. At times it was challenging because life changed some habits. I feel a connection to my past though because as a young person, I spent hours reading. When sent to clean my room, hours later when Mom comes to check, she finds me on the floor crosslegged with a book.

How many remember the bookmobile that used to come around once a week? I may be aging myself. However, I miss that pleasure. I would get ten books a week and typically read them all before the next week’s return. I will say that Little House on the Prairie was great before the TV series. I learned about Switzerland, Sweden, Greenland and other places I couldn’t visit. I like to read fiction and non-fiction. Today, I am more inclined to Christian fiction and self-improvement non-fiction. But more importantly, the Bible is my most favorite book. My adult children tease me because I can still spend hours in the library. Forget the bookstore. They won’t let me go in.
Growth is so important, and reading helps you do that. As an advocate for change, I encourage reading about where you want to go. The more information you have, the clearer you are about your destination. And no, you are never too old to change or enjoy reading.
Be encouraged and be blessed.

Reading is so important, and I can spend hours in Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. I’m reading On Prayer by E.M. Bounds along with my morning Bible reading, and it’s a great way to get focused before Bible study.
Love E.M. Bounds. I am disappointed there are not many bookstores left here in Las Vegas. I miss the Books-A-Million in Los Angeles.
Oh wow, that is sad. I guess they’re more interested in artificial entertainment than in what books contribute to a well-rounded life. Besides B&N and BAM, there are several locally owned bookstores I’m planning to visit this summer. We have to keep supporting local businesses so they can stay open. I read On Prayer way too fast a few years ago, so this time I’m reading it slowly and my goodness, the book is awesome.
Reading to learn about faraway places has always been one of my most treasured benefits of reading too!
