Encouragement, edification, and empowerment from a biblical perspective for true transformation.

What Does Today Mean to You?

Hello, happy Friday. I pray you are doing well. I want to ask what today means to you.

Psalm 118:24 – “Today is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (NLT)

Today is the day of the Lord’s mercy. It is another opportunity to choose whom you serve.

Joshua 24:15 – “But if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served, which were beyond the Euphrates River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (NLT)

Many of us can recall when we were super excited about the next major event in our lives. The sixteenth birthday, the twenty-first birthday, the high school graduation, the college graduation, the marriage, etc. What’s my point? We can be excited about these events. However, it is important to mindful of today.

Today is the only guarantee because you are here. The past is gone, and the future is not guaranteed. All we have is today. As seen in the past couple of weeks, anything can be here today and gone tomorrow. I am an advocate of growth and personal development. However, I want to clarify that knowing and believing in these things is based on the mercy and grace of God.

Today is the day to trust that God is at work in your life truly.

Jeremiah 29:11 – ” ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ ” (NLT)

There were times when things looked grim for me as a single parent. I love baseball (believe it or not) and use it metaphorically. Life throws curve balls when you least expect them. Trusting that God had my best interest at heart, no matter how it looked, comforted me greatly. Particularly when things were out of my control.

Last but certainly not least, give thanks always.

Be blessed.
