Encouragement, edification, and empowerment from a biblical perspective for true transformation.

Gratitude and Retirement

The sky is beautiful and soothing. The heat is the opposite. It is stifling and dangerous. Stay hydrated and cool. Sit down when you need to in the shade.

I was thinking about what I wanted to share today. I am grateful today. It is about 111 degrees and still rising. It is supposed to be a high of 112. The heart warning is in effect until the 10th of July. How does that tie in to gratitude and retirement?

I remember delivering pizza about 10 years ago during the summer. It was 114 degrees outside. I had no air conditioning in my van. I had a two-door Eddie Bauer. I couldn’t afford to fix it at that time. It was hot!

I am grateful I am retired and don’t have to deliver pizza. That year, it was around this time. I remember working nights and the 4th of July then. No matter how much I prepared, it was startling when the fireworks went off.

I am grateful I can write about the heat and not have to be in it. I am thankful I don’t have to wait on the bus to get to work and walk 20 minutes when I get off. Or, going home at 8 pm and the heat is still a problem.

I wrote about retiring in Las Vegas in a previous article. The heat was one of the cons listed. It is something significant to consider when choosing a place to retire. It is non-discriminatory. I am in the cool of the apartment, grateful for the air conditioning.

Stay safe everyone. Take precautions. Keep water with you.

Be blessed.
