“Faithing It”_A Book Review

Faithing It

“Faithing It” –  Cora Jakes Coleman is the author of this book. She has a boldness and a flair for writing about faith, from her experience and learning the Word of God in a household that grew up in the faith of God. Her father is T.D. Jakes, an amazing man of God. And, her mother is an impressive woman of God who has also made her imprint for the faith in being an awesome wife, a mother and woman of faith. You can find out more about this wonderful woman of God on her website, corajakescoleman by clicking the link.

Called_Chosen_AcceptedThe one thing that was reinforced with me while reading this book is that I am accepted, called and chosen by God. Cora inspires you in this book. I know she did me. It could be that my heart was ready to receive the message of the book. No matter where you are in your relationship with God, this book gets down to the nitty gritty of your promise, your purpose and your power in Christ Jesus. Cora shares her journey in a way that exposes her vulnerability. She shares the struggles of not only her faith but also being the daughter of a famous minister, preacher and called-upon man of God. She shares intimate details that let you know she can totally relate to the challenges you face in this spiritual journey.

What I enjoyed about the book most is that she asks you the hard questions that you must answer for yourself. She asks you questions that, after answered, give you much more clarity on where you are headed in your journey. Some of the questions are quite sobering. Cora delves into your spiritual psyche to get you to be honest with yourself.

The StormI recommend this book to anyone who feels stagnant in his/her spiritual journey. I recommend this book to anyone who is unclear about their purpose and the promises of God. God has the details of your purpose but this book helps you examine your life to help see your purpose. Sometimes you have to move things out of the way (thoughts, emotions, etc.). The mindset of the book is to put God first and she shares how you can do this. The questions she asks you to answer help you to make a stand for “faithing it.” Cora talks about the power you have in Jesus and accessing that power to be all you can be in Christ. This book is about walking by faith and not by sight. It is about understanding and accepting God’s purpose and plan for your life. It is about the power we have in Christ Jesus and how to grab hold of that power for God’s glory.

Don't Give UpAt the end of each chapter, Cora has a prayer specifically for the reader. Each prayer focuses on the topic of the chapter and how it relates to you. The prayers are sincere and Spirit-led. Her prayers for the readers and the call to action to not give up are inspiring parts of the book. Don’t give up. Grab a copy and see what Cora Jakes Coleman speaks to your heart. It is about moving in the faith, accessing the power of Christ Jesus because of your faith and glorifying God in your life because He has accepted you, called you and chosen you for such a time as this.
