Self-Discipline and Change

Self-Discipline and Change

I have written about self-discipline before. Today I would like to offer a practical application. This application also offers a way to manage your time as well. Allocate a time slot to take at least one step towards a goal. For instance, everyday from 10 am to 11 am is devoted to this one step. You may have a goal of becoming a better writer (only you know). So, now you commit to that one hour every day, whether you read, diligently search the web, evaluate how you would like to become better, etc.

However, I would like to emphatically insist that you don’t multi-task. Focus on this one particular task. Do not include the dinner menu, the shopping list, etc. These details are specific because they are key to establishing your new habit. Action enforces motivation. Not only that, now you are better utilizing your time. This commitment helps you work on your self-discipline as well. Commitment is critical to self-discipline and self-discipline requires commitment. Dedication and application are key elements of commitment.

What areas in your life now require self-discipline? Is mastering your time a need right now? Whether business or personal, change has to come to realize your goals and/or dreams. Evaluate your life right now. You cannot commit to something of which you are unaware.

Self-Care

Hello, everyone. I wanted to make sure I connected today. I have been busy and sick. Started getting sick a little over a week ago. I had to rest this past week. I had no energy to do anything. Thought about coming down on myself and accepted that sometimes you just need rest. Being sick isn’t always just about being too busy, it’s your body telling you your balance is off. That information is a good thing. There are times when it is okay to get rest. We need that, to be rejuvenated, to refuel, and to adjust our perspectives.

I am sharing this with you because we all need to be encouraged when it is time to get rest. Our culture today is about going until we can’t go anymore. I think it’s called grinding. (Okay, I’m aging myself.) I believe that this mindset influences the perspective to do whatever is necessary to keep moving. We need to understand the full spectrum of productivity includes rest. Rest is necessary for excellence.

That said, I am glad I got the rest I needed. A couple of those days, I just needed the extra sleep. I am not sure we truly appreciate the value sleep is to our whole and healthy, well-being. Just wanted to connect and let you know that I am doing so much better; re-connecting to my posting schedule. I am grateful for that.

Be blessed and that care of yourselves.

Don’t Become Weary in Well-Doing

I want to encourage all my readers today with Galatians 6:9 – “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap eternal life.” This Scripture is very important for a believer because we have hope. Our souls are eternal and we must keep our eyes on doing well. God knows that we sometimes get tired. That is when you ask for His strength to keep going, His courage. The Scripture does say not by power, nor by might but by His Spirit.

The Journey – Stay in the Faith Lane

This journey is not easy. However, nothing is impossible with God. 1 Corinthians 15:58 – “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord, your labor is not in vain.”

As we help others out of a pure heart, we must keep our eyes on Jesus. His word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. God says He will never leave us nor forsake us. No matter what you are going through, He is with us. We will face trials and tribulations. We are overcomers. We have the victory through Christ Jesus our Lord.

As we walk in victory, we share our journey of faith and encourage others. I just wanted to speak into your spirit today with the truth of God’s word. No matter what it looks like, God is still in control.

No fear. As a believer, we have access to an all powerful, all knowing, present everywhere God. We were given peace and the Holy Spirit to navigate this life. What do we really have to fear, giving away the power that is a gift to us? Are you living in the power of God’s love or are you living in fear?
