Book Review_Saved By Angels

Saved by AngelsThis review is on Saved by Angels, written by Bruce Van Atta. This is an excellent book to read about the testimony of another believer and be inspired by his journey. Most important though is how it is relative to us all in this spiritual journey. He relates quite effectively because he is very honest about his responses to God. His story is amazing and while I feel eager to share a significant experience he had with the angels, I hold back because it is a reading experience you have to have for yourself. The first chapter talks about major events in his journey with God. He is easy to read but powerful and provocative none-the-less.

Seven of the eight chapters depicts how God speaks to us. In these chapters, he adds the appropriate Scriptures and his experience about how God spoke to him in this way. The seven ways that God speaks to us are in the following list. God speaks to us:

Through the process of Prayer

Through the process of Reading the Bible

Through the process of the Spoken Word

Through the process of the Holy Spirit

Through the process of Design and Circumstance

Through the process of Dreams and Visions

Through the process of Angels.

Walking through the valleyGod has certainly spoken to me through all these methods. While your experience is not the same as mine, the revelations derived from reading this book brings to mind the many times that God has spoken to me and you in life. It calls you to deeply understand the Scripture that says “He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:8). I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and at some points, the notes just flew. Quite provocative, yes. I particularly like the NLT wording of this Scripture. “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

At the end of each chapter, excluding the first, there are questions for you to answer. The questions are designed to help you probe deep into your journey with the Lord. Whether you are a novice or seasoned in your relationship with God, the questions reach to your core of understanding in how God has been with you all along.

Hebrews 4 Twelve

Even after being saved for over thirty years, the Word is still a living entity. His words reached my heart because of my experiences with God. Hebrews 4:12-13 (12)“For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. (13)Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the one to whom we are accountable.”

I do believe that the books I have been led to read so far have been given to me for such a time as this. The words have resonated within me and have provoked deep and sobering thoughts about this journey. As well, joy has filled my heart because of understanding and praise has filled my heart because of God’s love for me. His protection, guidance, direction as well as comfort in the really trying times brings tears to my eyes, especially when someone else understands and speaks directly to my heart.

I am sure you will enjoy this read. God’s timing for you to enjoy this book is perfect. So, whether you read today, tomorrow, or even next year, it is a book worth reading, sharing and enjoying!

The next book is The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyer. Also, the posts for these reads will be on Sundays. Have a blessed week!
