Woke up this morning, got my coffee and checked my email. Having been in a conversation with God about a certain area of my life I have been dealing with, I came across the following book by TD Jakes’ daughter, Cora Jakes Coleman entitled “Faithing It.” The title caught my eye and I downloaded a copy from BookBub e-books account for free. Not that I don’t have enough to read with my awesome blogging community, but this book title caught my attention.
So, I started reading it and will give you my thoughts so far. It is about the understanding that God is writing your story and fighting the fight of faith. Believing God even when you don’t understand what is really going on and the whole process of reaching your purpose in Him. I started this year off with the “going through the daily process” concept for my life. This book is right in line with the concept and shares the spiritual clarity from the Word of God. I do believe that when we are led by the Holy Spirt, God gives us nuggets of truth and richness that help us along the way, especially when we seem to be having a difficult time. It may not seem like He is there, but He is as evidenced by this almost unnoticed blessing.
Of course, Cora shares her story and how God has worked in her life to fulfill her purpose. We all have a purpose and God is not done with any of us yet. I do admit that it is right in line with my daily process to find this treasure. I am in chapter one and have taken several pages of notes in my journal. One key factor that this was given to me by the Holy Spirit. The reading thus far has given me some deep thoughts to ponder about the journey. I plan to have the book completed by Saturday and will give you another perspective on the riches I am sure to find. While the Bible has all the Scriptures, it is awesome to read about another believer’s journey and revelation from God. The insight that you gain for your own is invaluable. Realizing that every individual’s journey has its own specific details, there are common threads for making it. I thank God that she was obedient in sharing her story.
One of the goals that I also set in the daily process is to read at least thirty books this year. I decided to add this weekly feature to my blog. While I certainly prefer reading from the hard copy, I plan to take advantage of the features available on my phone and get more reading done. Time management is part of the process and with new adjustments being added frequently, I have to avail myself of the tools already at my disposal. After setting a goal, it is necessary to break down the steps necessary to accomplish that goal.
See the arrow to the left pointing straight ahead. A believer’s journey is narrow on the road travelled. This arrow is pointing up, toward God, your focus. When you step to the left or right, you step outside of your focus because your road is widened. You have to come back to the point of focus when stepping outside deters your path of God. This doesn’t mean you have small dreams. This just means that the methods used to accomplish those dreams are limited to God’s methods or ways. That includes honesty, integrity and trust in Him for His glory.
When challenged by current circumstances, I am reminded of Galatians 5:22-23, NLT. (21) “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (22) There is no law against these things!” Of course, this is directly in line with James 1:2-4, NLT. (2) Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. (3) For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. (4) So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
