As I complete the Faithing It book by Cora Jakes Coleman, the next book on the list is “Saved by Angels”, author Bruce Van Natta. I have never read anything from this author so hopefully this should be a real treat. The book blurb is how God talks to be people everyday. I would love to have someone join me in this read if you are interested. There is a DVD and study questions for anyone who wants to use as a group study. Continue reading…!

“Faithing It”_A Book Review

Faithing It

“Faithing It” –  Cora Jakes Coleman is the author of this book. She has a boldness and a flair for writing about faith, from her experience and learning the Word of God in a household that grew up in the faith of God. Her father is T.D. Jakes, an amazing man of God. And, her mother is an impressive woman of God who has also made her imprint for the faith in being an awesome wife, a mother and woman of faith. You can find out more about this wonderful woman of God on her website, corajakescoleman by clicking the link.

The Dressing in the Window

IMG_0233She was quite still. At first glance, she looked quite pensive, thoughtful. Closer examination of the woman in the window revealed she wasn’t even real. The mannequin is dressed in a yellow top and what looks like a grey skirt or pants? Who’s to say since you can’t see the complete bottom half of her. She has red or reddish brown hair with red lipstick on. Her hair and what may be a jacket are the same color as the curtain to the left. Actually my left since I am facing the window. The mannequin is quite white so the contrast of the darker colors is very obvious. Waiting on the new camera because I would love to have had this as a depth of field shot with the background blurred and the mannequin close up. She has been in the window for more than a week. The second floor isn’t easily accessible so the thought of protection is a little lost on me and even so, if I want protection, I would have put a blow up doll of a pit bull. I’m just saying.

Organizing the Details

This post is about adding meditation to organizing the details in this journey. After a little research, the definition of meditation used for this post is to “think, contemplate, devise or ponder.” Merriam-Webster defined meditation as “the act or process of spending time in quiet thought.” This is in line with the synonyms listed above. And, not least of course, is the Scripture reference to “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14, NLT). The words fed the spirit are important and should be considered with thoughtfulness.

Faith and Purpose

Woke up this morning, got my coffee and checked my email. Having been in a conversation with God about a certain area of my life I have been dealing with, I came across the following book by TD Jakes’ daughter, Cora Jakes Coleman entitled “Faithing It.” The title caught my eye and I downloaded a copy from BookBub e-books account for free. For those of you interested, you can sign up on the Bookbub website by clicking the highlight. Also, you can find out more about Cora Jakes Coleman by clicking the link. Not that I don’t have enough to read with my awesome blogging community, but this book title caught my attention.

Seasons

Daily Prompt Response: Seasons

Live in the Season

This is a great prompt. Seasons…we can all look at our lives and see the seasons of events. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 describes it best. God created the seasons of life and nature. I thought the Pinterest pin above describes what we really need to do in the various seasons of our lives. I added the Scripture verses for Ecclesiastes 3 after this for your reading pleasure.

Resilient

The Negative CommitteeAs I tossed and turned a little while attempting to sleep, one word seemed to resonate in my inner being. It was “resilient.” I have been thinking about this journey and the new aspects of moving forward as well as the best way to incorporate what the Lord is giving me to do now. Remember, my theme for this year is living in the “now.” First is the practical application of taking stock of my thoughts and dismissing the ones that are no good.

Of course, I checked the dictionary to understand the fullness of what this means. The definition of resilient is the ability to recover readily from illness, depression, adversity, or the like.” At this point in time, I know that this is me. I found some pins to express myself like the “resilient” one following.

Happy Valentine’s Day with Expressions of Gratitude

God’s Creative Hand

Expressions of gratitude are here today. This is mid-February and I am truly energized not only with my commitment to writing but am refueling my passion for photography. I see more of my creativity rising to the surface. More than anything, I see God allowing me to be open with myself and focus on more than circumstances. One thing I am truly grateful for is all the bloggers I have come know through this community. There are some great storytellers among you. There are passionate Believers among you (definitely inspired to encourage and inspire others in their walk). There is a plethora of creative people who have cared enough to share. I truly enjoy the mornings because I get to read these blogs and open my heart to fellow creatives. From teachers, singers, musicians, artists, coaches, etc., it is an awesome journey to share with them. You can see my list of those I follow and choose to share with them as well. Or, follow someone from one of their blog list. The list is a ripple affect and I certainly am enjoying the ride.
